Dear Member

Your Westminster Committee welcomes you to our new home, the National Gallery Sainsbury Wing Lecture Theatre for the 2021/2022 season. The theatre is big enough to allow us to have just one session each month. The programme leaflet and membership card showing the full details have been posted to each Member.

We continue to widen our selection of lectures. The programme starts off with Jo Mabbutt’s lecture on ‘The Field of the Cloth of Gold’, then further highlights will include ‘A Rebel on the Run: Caravaggio’s Final Years’ with lecturer Siân Walters and the Christmas-themed December lecture by Karin Fernald on ‘Hans Christian Andersen - Wit, Artist, Traveller’. Our February lecturer, Dr Jonathan Foyle will talk about ‘A Paradise Garden: The Art of Medieval Symbols’ and in April we learn about ‘Galla Placidia: The Empress and the Fall of Rome’ in a lecture by Dr Stephen Kershaw. The season will close with Sandy Burnett’s talk on the ‘Age of Jazz’.

We also have a tempting array of planned visits - all live and face to face! - with the honourable exception of our Zoom visit to the The Vatican:The Sistine Chapel in December.

Thank you for supporting us and we hope you enjoy our 2021/2022 season.

Don’t forget to use your two free guest passes.

With very best wishes and kindest regards

Kevin Kiernan

Chairman and Treasurer
